The care team
As heart rhythm specialists, our mission is to deliver excellent care for the comprehensive treatment of cardiac arrhythmias.
Our team consists of healthcare professionals who are qualified and specialised in managing heart rhythm. Our philosophy is based on group work in order to optimise the chances of successful diagnosis and treatment in complex cases and to allow continuity of care.
Your case is always discussed in collaboraton with the entire rheart rythm team, and we will do our utmost to ensure that you have only one contact during your hospital stay; however, (frequent) emergencies sometimes require another doctor to take care of you.
As a former medical student and junior doctor at the Paris hospitals, I have always been passionate about studying and treating heart rhythm disorders.
In 2001 and 2002, I took on the position of Senior Registrar at the Georges Pompidou European Hospital in the department of Professor Guize. This position was dedicated to learning about pacemakers as well as diagnostic and therapeutic electrophysiology.
In 2003, I became the first associate heart rhythm specialist of Dr Sebbah (now retired) and we then became the origins of our team of heart rhythm specialists.
Our permanent objective was to offer a care of excellence at the best establishments and always in constant contact with several cardiology departments across Paris.
Historically established at the Hospital Des Peupliers, we joined the Institute Mutualiste Montsouris in 2010. Thanks to its structure combining cardiac surgery, cardiac intensive care and quality medical resuscitation, we were able to gradually develop a strong department of electrophysiology, ensuring complete safety for our patients.
Strengthened by significant growth, the team has been able to gradually expand and currently includes six experienced heart rhythm specialists, all from the largest university departments.
For my part, my surgical activity is essentially oriented towards pacemakers with particular expertise in defibrillation and cardiac resynchronisation therapy.
Thanks to a strong service (number one pacemaker service in France) and the dynamism of the team, we are starting to develop research activities that are particularly inspiring for the institute and our team.

Heart rhythm specialist Pierre Jorrot completed his medical studies at Pitié-Salpêtrière Hospital and was a junior doctor at hospitals in Paris. He quickly discovered a passion for electrophysiology. He trained at various university hospitals in Paris, notably at the Henri Mondor Hospital where he became PhD assistant in 2009.
After two years of intensive training, he consolidated his skills and focussed on ablation of rhythm disorders and cardiac resynchronisation therapy. He joined the team in 2011 to develop complex ablations (especially for atrial fibrillation).
He has since carried out all elements of interventional electrophysiology.
He is a member of the French Society of Cardiology.
He mainly practices at the Institute Mutualiste Montsouris, the Private Hospital Des Peupliers and the Saint Antoine University Hospital.
Doctor Nicolas Mignot is a rhythmologist. He is therefore an interventional cardiologist specializing in the study, diagnosis and treatment of heart rhythm disorders.
He did the first part of his studies (externship) at the Pierre and Marie Curie Faculty of Medicine (UPMC, current Sorbonne Nouvelle) at the St Antoine and Pitié Salpétrière hospitals.
He then followed his internship in cardiology at the largest hospitals in Paris. Graduated with a doctorate in medicine in 2014 as a specialist in cardiology and vascular diseases, he obtained the title of laureate of the faculty and was appointed head of clinic at universities and assistant to hospitals in Paris in the cardiology department of Henri Mondor hospital. .
Under the tutelage of Professor Nicolas Lellouche and Dr Nathalie Elbaz, he over-specializes in the field of electrophysiology. In 2016, he obtained the title of rhythmologist and joined the current team in 2016.
He has since performed all the acts of interventional rhythmology.
He is a member of the French Society of Cardiology.
Doctor Frédéric Sebag was appointed as a junior doctor in Paris hospitals in 2006. After a year of fundamental research at INSERM U-944 at La Pitié Salpetrière, he turned to rhythmology in 2011, carrying out an “inter-university-hospital” fellowship at the Cardiology Department of Rennes University Hospital (pioneer in cardiac resynchronisation therapy). In 2012 he completed a fellowship year at Guy & St Thomas’ Hospital in London (UK) under the supervision of Doctor Mark O’Neill. He then became PhD assistant at Henri-Mondor Hospital in Créteil.
He joined the team as a heart rhythm specialist in 2015.
He is a member of various expert societies in cardiology and rhythmology (French Society of Cardiology, European Heart Rhythm Association)
He is the author of several publications in various scientific journals (JACC interventions, Circulation Arrhythmia, Journal of Cardiovascular Electrophysiology …) and participates as speaker or moderator at several international congresses.
He practises as a heart rhythm specialist at the Institute Mutualiste Montsouris, the Turin Clinic, the Private Hospital Des Peupliers, Saint Antoine University Hospital as well as Creil Hospital.
Doctor Edouard Siméon is a heart rhythm specialist, i.e. a cardiologist specialising in diagnosing and treating heart rhythm disorders.
He initially trained in Paris (Paris V Descartes University) then in Tours as part of Professor Dominique Babuty’s heart rythm team, an internationally renowned department, where he was PhD assistant.
He holds an Inter-University Diploma in cardiac electrophysiology.
His areas of expertise are two-fold: implantation of pacemakers and defibrillators on the one hand, and catheter ablation of heart rhythm disorders on the other hand.
As part of the team, he carries out the majority of accessory pathway cryoablations, as well as the implantation of “leadless” pacemakers, an innovative technique that certainly represents the future of the pacemaker.
He practices as a heart rhythm specialist at various private and public centres: IMM, the Private Hospital Des Peupliers, Saint Antoine University Hospital and the Turin Clinic.
Besides his role as consultant and surgeon, Dr Siméon has a particular interest in clinical scientific research.
Born in Bourges, Berry in 1983, the heart rhythm specialist Olivier Villejoubert completed his medical studies at Tours Regional University Hospital. In contact with Professor Dominique Babuty, he studied cardiology and discovered very early on a passion for rhythmology, bathed in the very dynamic and innovative atmosphere of this team which currently features in the national prize list in this field. His dissertation for Diploma of Specialised Studies as well as his doctoral thesis in medicine focused on epidemiological data on a large patient population with atrial fibrillation and were both published in renowned international journals.
In addition to his medical training, he is conducting scientific training which will lead him to carry out a particularly rewarding year of Master II at the Paris VII Faculty. Under the aegis of Professor Jean-Jacques Mercadier, he studied cellular electrophysiology and the related fundamental concepts, thus giving a more global perspective on cardiac electrophysiology.
He added to this scientific theoretical training with a year of fundamental research at the LabEx LERMIT centre of excellence directed by Professor Rodolphe Fischmeister, specialist in signalling and cardiovascular pathophysiology. It was at the INSERM U769 department and under the supervision of Professor Ana-Maria Gomez, internationally renowned advisor in fundamental electrophysiology and particularly intracellular calcium signalling, that he carried out fundamental research on the study of sinus function on a model of catecholaminergic polymorphic ventricular tachycardia in rodents. This work also gave rise to a collaborative publication in a prestigious scientific journal. In addition to the purely technical contribution, this scientific training allowed him to develop another perspective on his discipline, thus supplementing and enriching his education received at the medical school.
His technical training in invasive rhythmology as such took place at the Paris Saint-Joseph Hospital, as part of the team of Doctor Serge Caseau, a pioneer of cardiac pacemaking and inventor of cardiac resynchronisation therapy during the 1990s, a technique currently used worldwide and which our team has made a specialty, especially in complex cases.
Finally, he joined the Rythmopôle team in 2017 as a heart rhythm specialist, where he carries out a full-time pacemaker, defibrillation, resynchronisation and ablation service for simple and complex arrhythmias.
Maroussia Bigo graduated from the Pitié Salpêtrière school of nursing. She has always been passionate about the field of Cardiology.
She began practising at the Georges Pompidou European Hospital in cardiac surgery, and with this experience, she continued her practice at the Institute Mutualiste Montsouris in the Heart Diseases department, and in particular in Rhythmology.
She was fascinated by the discovery of this discipline and this led her to expand her knowledge in this field to finally join the team of heart rhythm specialists in 2018 as head of remote monitoring.
I have been the medical secretary in the Cardiology/Rhythmology department at the Hospital Des Peupliers since 1994.
I turned to this profession because it is both technical and interpersonal.
A medical secretary is the first point of contact for the patient on the telephone and/or in person. Our role is to put patients and their families at ease and to answer their questions or concerns. We process a lot of electronic medical records (consultation reports, surgical reports…) and are in daily contact with the heart rhythm specialists.
I like the interpersonal aspect of this job but you also have to be rigorous, discreet and organised. It’s therefore a very varied and rewarding job where you never get bored!
As a medical secretary since 2012, I have been at the Turin Clinic since 2019, welcoming you to the Rhythmology Department.
I like my daily tasks because they suit me in terms of order, organisation and anticipation.
My job is satisfying because I like to meet the patients; listen to them, help them and offer solutions as far as my skills allow, talk to them and smile.
As a medical secretary who qualified in 1991, I worked for 26 years in digestive endoscopy. Having the desire to discover another medical specialty, I joined the rhythmology team in September 2018. What I like, among other things, is the teamwork of this young and dynamic group.
Having fallen into the field of Cardiology at a young age, my mother being a nurse in the same specialty, I’ve been working in Rhythmology for 30 years.
This job has always fascinated me. I like working closely with patients by bringing them my skills, empathy and support during their journey through our department.
I have seen this job become much more administrative and less medical in other centres. Here, I can continue to do my job with enthusiasm and humanism.
My name is Marie Claire, and I have worked at the Hospital Des Peupliers for 35 years.
I’ve had the chance to discover several positions in my career (admissions, accounts, bed management and scheduling patient surgery). I then joined the cardiology team, where I met a very lovely, dynamic team with an excellent rapport.
I’ve acquired a huge amount of knowledge, and I’m still learning every day. This is a very interesting job with a lot of contact with patients, who are lovely. In conclusion, this is a team who are always looking to the future!
